Big Question: How Would You Punish The Match-Fixers?

the penalties are not harsh at all. Match fixing is huge and it has stained these clubs forever. It looks like not only the matches were fixed but now the courts and judges got some money in there pocket too. What a joke.

I dont think the punishments the first time around were harsh either. Maybe to the fans of the teams involved they were too harsh and i feel bad for the fans, but really what the clubs did was the worst thing u can do in football and they deserved to be at least relegated. There are teams that dont cheat that deserve a chance, but i guess money talks. oh well.

I love how the common legal process of an appeal is granted, a process used almost worldwide, and as soon as the appeal WORKS, its suddenly bribed JUDGES now… more bitter English fans I see.

That being said, the teams should be relegated for at least this first season and give teams that played well in series B and played fairly a better chance.

The question is: “How Would You Punish The Match-Fixers?”. Some of the comments blame the clubs, when the clubs were innocent. The match-fixers where individuals and they have been sentenced accordingly by the Italian legal system. Maybe some of us would have preferred harsher sentences for some, but to demote clubs for the actions of some individuals, I feel, has gone too far because this has hurt the innocent supporters who are the heart of all clubs.

Hell, i would have relegated all the offending teams AND tacked on a special proviso that they can’t rejoin the top league for two to three seasons.

In fixing matches, these schmucks who have some of the best jobs in the world flat-out screwed fans who deserve a hell of a lot better.

Where is the glory in winning a match whose outcome is decided?

Moggi and any referees involved should be given the Shoeless Joe Jackson treatment immediately and irrevocably.

Why relegate “all the offending teams”, Os Davis? That’s not fair if many in the team and the clubs are innocent. On your way of punishing the clubs is akin to th analogy of the following: If some directors of an insurance company fiddled the books and made thousands or millions from their conniving deals, why should all the shareholders and the insurance company be held responsible for the corrupt directors?

It is fair to remind that there’s no evidence that these mean people work brought clubs any advantage (we still have just the calls recordings)..because, you know the mere attempt to corrupt has been punished..that’s what makes the whole stuff more complicated than it could look from abroad, and that’s the main argumentation from the clubs lawyers. Besides, i think that a ban for the individuals is no harsh enough punishment: they should be severely fined too ..they were in just for the money so that sounds to me the fairest solution!

Moggi got a five year ban but he also got a recomendation to be banned for life. Being that he makes so much money from soccer, I think a lifelong ban might hurt just a bit.

Also I believe he was fined 50,000 euros as well. Thats not a HUGE amount considering his wealth but its definately something.

I think redscorpion, it was smart to point out what Juve lost from all this. Ppl are syaing these sentances arent fair but look at everything Juve lost including TWO championships. What more is there to lose than that? Add the relegation AND the 17 points and I still believe this is justice. It’s the other teams im more concerned with. Im not too sure bout them staying in A. But i honestly dont know exactly how they were involved in it all.
