Big Question: Do you Panini or collect other World Cup Memorabilia?

By: WC Bob | April 25th, 2006 | 8 Comments »

Isn’t it odd how certain traditions catch on? We were thinking about that the other day when we stumbled upon the website for this year’s World Cup Panini sticker collection. What began in 1970 as a cool way for kids to collect images of their football heroes has evolved into, well, a cool way for kids (and big kids) to collect images of their football heroes. With all the technology that exists in the world, it is kinda neat thinking an old tradition still lives on and that kids are still beating each up over these things.

Today’s Big Question asks you to fess up about your collecting ways. Do any of you still collect Panini stickers? Do you collect other World Cup memorabilia every four years?

If the answer is yes to the Panini question, we have a follow up question. Would you like to trade us your Gheorghe Hagi sticker from ‘94? We’re still looking for that one and we’ll gladly trade a few of the Alexi Lalas extras we still inexplicably possess.

I do colect some memorabilia. I also know a World Cup collector who helds sticks from all the WC since 1930.

What I have here right know is some potter cups for all the teams that are heading a group this year.

I missed the 2002 Panini album cause I moved to the US but I’m not missing the 2006 one. Yes, I’m 23 now and there are more accurate ways to collect WC memorabilia (on the paninin album Cesc Fabregas is not on the Spaniard team, but Messi IS on argetina’s, hehe) but it’s now a tradition for me, for old time’s sake.
