What’s This Tournament Called Anyway?

There’s always a bit of confusion over exactly what to call this tournament. Is it the African Nations Cup? The Cup of African Nations? Should we stick with the French version of Coupe d’afrique? Or (as we’ve been calling it) the African Cup of Nations? The AFCON? The CAN? ANC? ACN?

My feeling is that they’re all sort of correct so long as everyone knows what you’re referring to. But the official name – as evidenced by the official logo – is Africa Cup of Nations. So that’s what we’ll be sticking with on World Cup Blog from now until February 10th.
