Gedo Confirmed as World’s Greatest Super Sub as Egypt Win Africa Cup of Nations 2010

Egypt won the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations yesterday, beating Ghana 1-0 in the final with the above 85th minute goal form Mohamed Nagy, a.k.a Gedo, a.k.a the world’s greatest super sub. Why is the 25 year old Al-Ittihad Al-Sakndary player the world’s greatest super sub? Here’s why:

Gedo didn’t start any of Egypt’s six games at Angola 2010, and yet somehow finished the tournament as top scorer with five goals. To come off the bench and score once is impressive. To do it five times, including the only goal in the final, is something else. So has he earned a spot in the first XI now?

  • We all so proud (as arabians ,muslims)to see the egyptian team in the crownpiece..
I wondered about the magic style of the supersub playing ,special thanx to (GEDO).
  • It really was an incredible tournament
  • That's right Ian. Meteoric rise to fame might be an understatement for Gedo. Can't get better than this at this level. He got one chance and grabbed it by the balls. Shehata's wisdom in this is something to behold as well. He dropped an established star in Mido to have Gedo in the team. Worked out pretty well eh?

It really was an incredible tournament for Gedo. 5 goals in less than 150 minutes of play is amazing, especially at an international tournament, and with scoring the winner in the final, I hope he is considered for some starts for Egypt. Another cool stat on him - before the tournament, he only had two caps for Egypt - and one goal.
