Africa Cup of Nations Group D Gets Decided Today

It’s the Africa Cup of Nations Group D finale today, and the last time we’ll need a calculator to work out who needs what. Tunisia currently sit on top with four points, Angola second having scored one less goal. The top two meet today, so both Angola and Tunisia can progress without breaking a sweat if they’re prepared to play out a draw. Which hopefully they won’t. Senegal are currently third with one point, having scored one more than South Africa, who are bottom. Those two also meet, and one of them needs to win and win by a decent score to catch either Angola or Tunisia (assuming one of the top two loses today.) Still with me? Angola vs Tunisia, 1700 GMT, Tamale
Senegal vs South Africa, 1700 GMT, Kumasi

Who needs what:

If Tunisia win or draw they top the group and go through. If Tunisia lose to Angola, and Senegal win, and Senegal make up the goal difference, then Tunisia are out.

Angola top the group by winning today, or take second place with a draw. If Angola lose and South Africa win, and South Africa make up the goal difference, then Tunisia are out.

Senegal need to beat South Africa and hope Tunisia lose to Angola. They then need to finish with a better goal difference than Tunisia.

South Africa need to beat Senegal and hope Angola lose to Tunisia. They then need to finish with a better goal difference than Angola.
